Photograph of HM Queen Elizabeth II (b.1926) in Iceland. She is walking along a wooden pathway in the geothermal landscape of Krisuvik and is wearing a cream coat and a purple silk hat.
Accompanied by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, HM The Queen made her first State Visit to Iceland in June 1990, where she was welcomed by President Vigdis Finbogadottir. Among the highlights of their stay was a visit to Krisuvik, one of the most interesting geothermal areas of Iceland. Here can be found an abundance of hot springs and high temperature geothermal activity, steam holes, hot water spouts, and shallow, evil-smelling mud pools.Provenance
Acquired by HM Queen Elizabeth II
