A sedan chair with a slightly curved roof, leather bodywork in olive green with brass mounts, with a glazed door, slots for carrying handles and a curved bracket at rear; the interior upholstered with red brocade and tasselled fringe.
Provenance
Reputedly used by Baroness Nairne during her residency at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The baroness pursued a project to preserve and foster the songs of Scotland, publishing anonymously or under the nom-de-plume 'Mrs. Bogan of Bogan'. Among her most famous compositions are the Jacobite songs 'Charlie is my Darling' and 'Will Ye no Come Back Again'.
