Free admisison to the royal residences on Disabled Access Day

On Saturday, 12 March visitors with disabilities will be offered free admission to Windsor Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and The Queen's Gallery, Edinburgh as part of this year's Disabled Access Day.

Buckingham Palace chosen by children as the first Google virtual-reality school visit in the UK

Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, is the first UK landmark to be part of an innovative VR (virtual-reality) project with Google designed specially for schools.  The Google Expeditions app allows teachers to take their students on a virtual field trip to the Palace from any classroom in the world, giving them a taste of what more than 60,000 of The Queen's guests and over 500,000 visitors to the Summer Opening of the Palace see each year.

Portraits of D-Day veterans go on display

Twelve portraits of D-Day veterans will go on display at the Palace of Holyroodhouse from tomorrow, Friday, 15 January.  The exhibition, The Last of the Tide (until 28 March 2016), pays tribute to the extraordinary men that played a role in the D-Day landings on 6 June 1944, and includes a number of portraits depicting veterans from Scotland.  It was commissioned by HRH The Duke of Rothesay following his attendance at the 70th anniversary commemorations of the Allied invasion of Normandy, which took place in France in 2014.  ...
