Queen Mary's Dolls' House
This miniature house was built for Queen Mary in 1924. It has running water and electricity, and is filled with thousands of tiny objects made by the leading artists, designers and craftsmen of the day.
Grand Reception Room
This wonderfully lavish room was entirely restored following the 1992 fire. It contains three chandeliers and the walls and ceiling are gilded with gold leaf.
St George’s Hall
This enormous room is used for State Banquets, when The Queen entertains visiting Heads of State from around the world. Look at the colourful coats of arms on the ceiling and see if you can spot the blank shields of disgraced knights.
Look at the ostrich feathers on top of this amazing bed. The bed hangings (curtains) were made in French royal colours for Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie when they visited Queen Victoria in 1855. See if you can spot their initials at the foot of the bed.
Changing the Guard
The ceremony usually takes place at 11:00 in the Castle’s Lower Ward and lasts approximately 30 minutes. For more information, please check the ceremony timetable.
