Visiting with children: The Queen's Gallery, Palace of Holyroodhouse

Children can explore some of the highlights in the Royal Collection during a visit to The Queen’s Gallery. Our current exhibition Castiglione: Lost Genius tells the story of an infamouse Italian artist - described as both a rogus and a genius. Here are some ideas to help you plan your visit.

Things to do during your visit

Art Spy Family Activity Bag

Explore The Queen’s Gallery with our ART SPY Family Activity Bags, available every day.  Join in a big bag of fun activities as you go on a secret mission to find out about Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione. He was an artist around 350 years ago who was famous for creating beautiful prints and drawings. The bag is full of activities for all the family. All activities are free with standard admission price. No booking required.

Things to look out for:

Animals

There are lots of animals in Castiglione's art work. What will you spot?

Castiglione's self portrait

A self portrait is a drawing, painting, sculpture or even a photograph of the artist. Can you create your own self portrait? Pick up a family activity bag to find out how.
