The top five things to look out for

The Royal Dining Room
What’s on the menu? Count the chairs around the table, and guess where The Queen prefers to sit.

Thrones
Go on a hunt for two thrones. They are over 100 years old and were made for The Queen’s grandparents, King George V and Queen Mary. Can you spot the differences between them?

The King’s Bed
This amazing four-poster bed was made for Charles II, but he never slept in it. Imagine what it was like to stay in the Palace over 300 years ago.

The Great Gallery
This is the biggest room in the Palace – you could fit three double-decker buses in it. Bonnie Prince Charlie held a famous party here.  Discover the secret of the 96 portraits on the walls.

Practical information

  • Lavatories and baby-care facilities are available in the Mews Courtyard.
  • Café at the Palace offers refreshments throughout the day, from drinks and light snacks to a changing menu of freshly prepared lunch dishes.
  • For safety reasons, pushchairs cannot be taken into the Palace. They can be left at the entrance and reclaimed at the exit.
  • The Palace Shop has a number of items priced between £1 and £5. There is a wide range of interesting gifts for children.
  • At the end of your visit, don’t forget to ask a Warden to stamp your ticket and convert it into a 1-Year Pass. Then visit us again.
