Highlights Garden Tour of Buckingham Palace garden

Planning your visit

The visit starts with an audio tour of the State Rooms of Buckingham Palace and then, after time to visit the Garden Cafe and Palace shop, concludes with a highlights garden tour in the company of an expert guide. A visit to the State Rooms lasts approximately two and a half hours, and a guided tour of the garden lasts 45 minutes.

Wheelchairs

Visitors should be aware that the garden path is a mixture of gravel and sand, and long distances have to be covered. Mobility scooters can be used in the gardens, but not inside the State Rooms. While wheelchairs and rollators are available to borrow in the State Rooms, they cannot be taken into the garden. Folding stools are available to be borrowed and a buggy is usually available to transport visitors with particular access requirements on a Highlights Garden Tour.

There are ten steps from the West Terrace down into the garden.

Flooring & surfaces

The garden path is a mixture of sand and gravel.

Respite seating

There is no seating in the garden but visitors are welcome to use walking sticks or folding stools with seat attachments. Folding stools are available to borrow.

Lavatories

Accessible lavatories are located at the start of the Access Route inside the palace and in the garden.
