Join in the family fun at Windsor Castle this half-term as part of ‘The Big Draw’, the UK’s largest annual drawing event.

Follow your activity trail and uncover fascinating facts about the world’s oldest and largest castle. Then visit the Moat Education Room to learn about all the kings and queens who have lived at Windsor over 1,000 years. Draw your own self portrait and help us make a giant collage.

The art-based activities are suitable for children between 5 and 11 years of age and are run on a drop-in basis. Standard admission prices apply.
A family ticket (2 adults and 3 under 17s) costs £36.50 and entitles you to register for a year’s unlimited admission.

The Royal Mews, Buckingham Palace

Discover the Gold State Coach 23–28 October 2007, 11:30 – 15:30

This half-term, enjoy a family day out at the Royal Mews and get involved with ‘The Big Draw’, the UK’s largest annual drawing event. The Royal Mews, part of Buckingham Palace, is home to the royal collection of historic coaches and carriages.

Join a special tour of the Gold State Coach House and discover fascinating facts about one of the world’s most spectacular forms of transport, used by Her Majesty The Queen on her Coronation Day and for the Jubilee celebrations. Find out how fast the Coach travels, whether it is comfortable to sit in, and how many horses are needed to pull it. Uncover secret symbols and hidden meanings its decoration and then visit the Education Room to help create a giant collage.

Palace of Holyroodhouse

The Big Draw 2007, Special Event 15–21 October 2007, 11:00 – 15:00

Enjoy a family day out at the Palace of Holyroodhouse this half-term and get involved with ‘The Big Draw’, the UK’s largest annual drawing event.

Follow a special ‘Big Draw’ activity trail and discover a bed decorated with ostrich feathers, a screen used to hide Small Pox and a mysterious face in a chair. Then, with the help of an interactive audio tour, explore the historic Royal Apartments, which are used by The Queen for official entertaining. Finally, join in the art-based activities in the Palace Coach House, where you can decorate a model palace with your own designs.
