Picture Library

The Royal Collection contains world-famous and historically significant works of art, including paintings and miniatures, drawings and watercolours, prints and photographs, furniture, sculpture, jewellery, porcelain, clocks, and arms and armour.

The Royal Collection Picture Library can supply thousands of images across the entire range of the Royal Collection in a variety of formats including digital. We also offer interior and exterior views of Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Our team of researchers will respond promptly and efficiently to client requests.  All our images are consistently quality controlled, and we are always happy to discuss projects with clients and make further suggestions.

Alternatively, clients are very welcome to visit the Picture Library themselves to consult our collection of images.  Please contact the Picture Library at the address below to make an appointment.

The online Picture Library currently only shows a proportion of the works that have been photographed.  New additions are frequently being added to the website, but please do not hesitate to contact the Picture Library if you are unable to fulfil your order online.

  • Colour transparencies: 5" x 4"", 10"x 8", 35mm
  • Colour and black-and-white photographs: 10" x 8" to 23” on the shorter side

  • Low-resolution scans are available for reference, and the majority of images can be provided as high-resolution files.  Clients should contact the Picture Library with file-size requirements.
