In 1985 The Queen received the President of Malawi at Windsor Castle. During his visit the President presented Her Majesty with a traditional Malawian carving by an eighteen-year-old sculptor, Wilson Tibu.

The carving, ‘Chauta’s Family’, made from sausage-tree wood, expresses unity and peace, cardinal virtues for the people of Malawi and an expression of the warm heart of Africa.
