In 1975 The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh toured the Caribbean, visiting Barbados, the Bahamas and Jamaica, for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in April. HMY Britannia was used by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh as their base where they were able to entertain and hold receptions on board.

They gave a reception on board for the Heads of Government, for which The Queen wore this silk chiffon evening shift of fuschia pink, embroidered with floral sprays in gold thread. A train in the same fabric falls from the shoulders. The vivid colour and light fabric were ideal for the Caribbean.
