When Visited

19-20 December 1953 The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited Tonga, where they were received by Queen Salote and the Crown Prince Tungi, in the capital Nukualofa. During her visit The Queen was introduced to the oldest inhabitant of Tonga, the famous tortoise Tui Malila, reputed to have been brought to the island by Captain Cook.

7 March 1970 The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited Tonga.

14 February 1977 The Queen visited Tonga as part of her 1977 Silver Jubilee Tour.
