Son of Thomas Howard, third Duke of Norfolk. A poet and fluent linguist. Became companion to Henry VIII's illegitimate son, Henry Fitzroy. Imprisoned in Windsor Castle for some months in 1537 for fighting a fellow courtier. Appointed steward for the Duchy of Lancaster in East Anglia in 1539. Fought in France during the 1540s. Arrested in 1546, and charged with high treason in 1547, accused of having borne the royal arms alongside his own. Convicted and executed January 1547.
