Sir Rhys ap Thomas

A loyal supporter of Henry Tudor, whom he followed into exile, Rhys ap Thomas was favoured with the role of chief lieutenant in Wales when Henry won the throne in 1485. He was knighted a few days after the Battle of Bosworth and became a Knight of the Garter in 1505. Fought in France for Henry VIII and won praise for his courage at the Battle of the Spurs.
