Sir Thomas Darcy, first Baron Darcy

Appointed vice-chamberlain of the Royal Household in 1509. Fought at the Battle of the Spurs in 1513. His influence was diminished under Cardinal Wolsey and he opposed Henry's attempts to annul his marriage to Katherine of Aragon and the King's religious reforms. During the Pilgrimage of Grace, surrended Pontefract Castle to the rebels. Found guilty of treason for complicity with the Pilgrimage. Degraded from the Order of the Garter and executed in June 1537.
