Crown & Camera (Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, 1987) was the first Royal Collection exhibition to be entirely dedicated to photography. The exhibition displayed images selected from the earlier part of the collection, dating from 1842 to 1910. These seventy years represent a dynamic period in the history of photography, and all the stages of its development, both in terms of the technical processes and as a form of art, can be followed within the collection.
