The Heart of the Great Alone: Scott, Shackleton and Antarctic Photography

This exhibition of remarkable photographs taken in Antarctica by Herbert George Ponting and Frank Hurley marks the 100th anniversary of Captain Scott’s ill-fated journey to the South Pole.

From 20 August 2010 to 20 February 2011 the exhibition will be on display at The Canterbury Museum, Christchurch, New Zealand.

Listen to David Hempleman-Adams, one of the world’s most successful polar explorers, introduce Ponting and Hurley’s evocative images. In addition to the exhibition, a selection of other Polar material from the Royal Collection can be viewed here including photographs and paintings associated with HRH The Duke of Edinburgh's visit to Antarctica in 1956-7.
