Wild and Shackleton between two pressure ridges

Spring 1915

Frank Hurley

Presented to King George V, 1917

Shackleton (right) and Frank Wild (1873-1939), his second in command on the Endurance, provide much-needed scale to this picture of two pressure ridges, and demonstrate the size of the natural forces at work on their ship.
