Will the Castle be Ready in Time?

A schools learning session at Windsor Castle

EYFS / Key stage 1 HOMES  In this storytelling session children travel back in time to 1855 when Queen Victoria’s housekeeper and staff at Windsor Castle are preparing for a glittering occasion – the State visit of the Emperor Napoleon III of France and his wife the Empress Eugénie. Through role play, children learn about all the work needed to ensure the visit runs smoothly, from washing and ironing the bed linen for the guest bedrooms to laying the table for the State banquet, which will celebrate the Emperor becoming a Knight of the Garter.

“The lady giving the talk was so welcoming and made the children feel very involved throughout.”
