Medieval to Modern: Exploring the Palace of Holyroodhouse

Pupils exploring Holyrood Abbey

Pupils learn about the Palace of Holyroodhouse’s history, from its medieval foundations in Holyrood Abbey to its present day use by the Royal Family. Following an introductory talk, pupils explore the Palace with a member of the Learning team to find out about the lives of some of our most famous residents including Mary, Queen of Scots, Bonnie Prince Charlie and Queen Victoria.

“We learnt that if you get small pox, then people put wax on their faces and if they put their face near the fire the wax will melt.” Primary 4 Pupil, George Watsons College
