Help get the Castle ready in time!

A schools learning session at Windsor Castle

In our storytelling session, travel back in time to 1855 with Queen Victoria’s housekeeper, the formidable Mrs Forster, when staff at Windsor Castle are preparing for a glittering occasion – the State visit of the Emperor Napoleon III of France and his wife the Empress Eugénie. Through role play, children learn about all the work needed to ensure the visit runs smoothly, from washing and ironing the bed linen for the guest bedrooms to laying the table for the State banquet, which will celebrate the Emperor becoming a Knight of the Garter.

“The lady giving the talk was so welcoming and made the children feel very involved throughout.”
