Commemorative china, 1927–37

Many royal occasions have been celebrated with the production of commemorative china, particularly weddings, coronations and birthdays. All the examples here reproduce royal portraits taken by Marcus Adams. It was not the general public who were keen to collect commemorative china with images featuring the royal family. It is believed that all the pieces shown here were acquired by Queen Mary, Princess Elizabeth's grandmother.
