The Prince arrived on the island of Corfu on 23 February, and spent 3 days visiting British dignitaries as well as sight-seeing. In 1862 Corfu, part of the Ionians Islands, was a British Protectorate, administered by a British Lord High Commissioner. The island was returned to Greece on 21 May 1864.
