A Faberge circular strut clock of blue guilloche enamel and silver with applied silver decoration in the form of a bow from which the dial is suspended and is in turn surmounted by a bow. The bezel with seed pearl border, white enamel dial with the 12 hours represented in Arabic numerals. Eight day timepiece, two going barrels with Swiss lever movement.
Of circular form and guilloché enamelled in blue, the dial of this clock, asymmetrically placed within the frame, appears to be suspended from a bow, which itself is suspended from a bow surmounting the top of the clock. As on the majority of Fabergé’s clocks, the dial is plain white with clear numerals – designed to be practical and easy to see. It is decorated with a bezel of seed pearls. It was made in the workshop of Victor Aarne, a workmaster of Finnish origin.
Mark of Viktor Aarne; silver mark of 88 zolotniks (1896-1908); Fabergé in Cyrillic charactersProvenance
