The Green Closet, also called Green Dressing Room is best know as the original hanging space of Gainsborough's portraits of George III, Queen Charlotte and their children. Eleven of this set of fifteen (RCIN 401006-20) are visible here (including the one seen reflected in the mirror), presumably the final four hung on the wall to the left. The small oval portrait is a pastel by Russell of the Duke of York (452549).
