Carved and pierced ivory basket with four claw and mask feet. Rectangular in shape, with carved central divider featuring two winged putti holding swags. The front of the basket carved with a central scene of two men beneath a parasol, a third man seated to their right and two men in the treetops on either side; similar scenes on each side of the basket. Foliage and birds carved throughout.
Provenance
Given to Queen Victoria by the Duke of Cambridge in 1887.
Given to the Osborne House Museum by Queen Mary, consort of King George V, in 1915. -
