This print is said to have been taken from a tankard engraved by Hogarth for the Clare Market Artist's Club, which met at the Bull's Head Tavern near Drury Lane. A central scene is flanked by a decorative cartouche, with figures of drawing and sculpture to left and right. The central roundel has been said to show the biblical story of Laban and his sheep but is more likely to show the discovery of the young shepherd Giotto's talent, when he drew a perfect circle on the ground with a stick.
