William Hogarth's engraved trade card, produced to advertise the printmaking business which the young artist set up in 1720 after leaving his apprenticeship with Ellis Gamble. With its variety of decorative devices, this trade card demonstrates Hogarth's talent as a printmaker as well his availability for commissions.
