A hand-coloured print satirising the attempted escape of Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette and their son, the Dauphin who are represented in a 'pot de chambre' or carriage. A Revolutionary soldier leans into the carriage, recognising the Royal occupants whilst in the background a man pursues the carriage holding a dagger. Another man who is driving the carriage and wearing large 'milk churn' boots, looks around in consternation whilst the horses bolt, one defecating. Inscribed in the plate: London June 28 1791 Published by S.W. Fores at his caracature Wharehouse No 3 Piccadilly
