A porcelain part dessert service, the white ground decorated with a border of entwined ribbons of the Orders of the Garter and Thistle which form panels containing roses and thistles, the centre with the royal coat of arms of William IV when Duke of Clarence, oak and laurel branches, the riband of the Order of the Garter with royal ducal coronet.
The service now comprises thirteen plates, one serving dish and one sauce tureen.
Provenance
Commissioned by William IV when created Duke of Clarence and St. Andrew and invested with the Order of the Thistle, 1789. The first royal commission from the Worcester factory.
