A great auk, carved in rock crystal, satin finished, with cabochon ruby eyes set in silver.
A rare example of an animal carved in rock crystal, which although used extensively by Fabergé for other objects - notably the trompe-l’oeil flower vases was sparingly used for animals and birds.
