The two brothers ride towards the spectator along a track bounded by fir trees; they each wear the uniform of a Field-Marshal; a party of officers ride behind them; on the right are a detachment of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. The Prince of Wales gave the painting to his mother Queen Victoria on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee in 1897. The Prince is riding with his brother Arthur, Duke of Connaught, each wearing the uniform of a Field-Marshal. The Duke of Connaught was appointed to the Aldershot command in 1893. On the right marches a detachment of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and behind them are men from the 1st Foot Guards. Signed and dated: Edouard Detaille. / 1895.
