Mouse c. 1907
Chalcedony, rose diamonds, silver | 3.2 x 5.4 x 3.0 cm (whole object) | RCIN 40013
-
A grey chalcedony mouse cleaning its nose; set with rose cut diamond eyes, tail and ears on a silver ground.
They are eight Fabergé rats and mice in the Royal Collection, most of which are hardstone set with diamond encrusted tails and ears. These objects, while less realistic than many of the other Sandringham animals, would nonetheless have had their place among the creatures encountered by Fabergé's sculptors on the estate.
