A pair of marquetry bombé commodes, each inlaid on the top with a musical trophy within a central cartouche flanked by flowers and foliage with a serpentine apron. The two doors inlaid with bunches of flowers tied with ribbons on quartered panels of cross-banded veneer; the sides and scrolled feet with gilded decoration.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George IV. Branded PAVILION [for the Royal Pavilion, Brighton]. Received from Brighton for restoration by Morel & Seddon on 27 July 1827 as part of the group of furniture and furnishings supplied and refurbished between 1827 and 1829 for King George IV by the partnership of Morel and Seddon for the Secretary’s Office and the Bath Room at Windsor Castle. Placed in the Queen's Audience Chamber at Windsor Castle in 1868.
