Sèvres soft paste porcelain vase. Bleu nouveau ground with gilded deocration, acanthus moulded neck and two tall parcel gilt scrolled handles, circular stem and foot and square gilt metal base. Front reserve illustrated with a Turkish interior scene of a lady at a table with attendants, the reverse reserve has a basket of fruit with garlands of flowers and ribbons.
Provenance
Recorded in 1826 in the Anti Room to the Dining Room, Basement Floor, Carlton House: ‘No.98. A Centre Vase of blue gold and white Seve Porcelain, with scrolled leaf neck and handles; the Centre and bottom wreathed on a square plinth, gold threaded; the front painted in Turkish Figures, and the back in a Basket of fruit and festoon of flowers – 17 In. high’.
