Photogravure of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia (1868-1918) entering Moscow for his coronation celebrations in May 1896. Nicholas II is mounted on a horse at the front of the procession, with his right hand raised in a salute. He is followed by a large group of mounted soldiers and officials. The road is lined with soldiers and there is a crowd of spectators in front of the buildings to the right. The coronation of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia was held at the Kremlin on the 26 May 1896. The celebrations lasted for several weeks and were attended by many foreign royals and dignitaries.
