Prince Christian was the favourite child of Princess Helena and grandson of Queen Victoria, and an excellent cricketer. He was educated at Wellington College and Magdalen College, Oxford and undertook military training at Royal Military College, Sandhurst before joining the army and serving in parts of the British Empire and the Second Boer War. In October 1900 he caught malaria and died of enteric fever. He is buried in Pretoria cemetery, South Africa. -
