Photograph from an album of Prince Arthur (1883-1938), standing in full length, facing three-quarters to the right and wearing a sailor suit. On the right, seated on the arm of a settee, is Charles Edward of Albany (1884-1954), later Duke of Saxe Coburg and Gotha wearing a kilt and a tartan shawl. In the background is a decorative screen.
On the 4th April 1887, Wilson created a partnership with his sons, John, Louis and Charles. Wilson stepped down as the principal photographer in 1888, allowing his sons to run the business which became a limited company in 1893, the year that Wilson died.
