The Prince and his companions had lunch in the shade of the columns, after the Revd Dr Stanley performed divine service in the temple (as it was Sunday). The Prince, in his journal, complained of the extreme heat. He is seated on a rock towards the right of the photograph.

The photograph is unsigned and uncaptioned. A second copy in the collection (RCIN 2700887) is signed 'F Bedford Karnak'. It is number 34 in the Day & Son series.Provenance
