Photograph of Endurance visible in the background with huge ice floes in the foreground. As his title indicates, Hurley continued to be fascinated by the weird and wonderful shapes thrown up by the shifting ice floes, as well as the sight of the vulnerable ship dwarfed by huge grotesquely formed blocks of ice. The sharp edges and eroded shapes of the ice appear to have been softened in this image by a recent fall of snow.
