Glacier Moraine Fjord, South Georgia Nov 1914

Photograph of a glacier moraine lodged between a fjord in the background with a man who faces the viewer standing in front of two boats on the shore. Before the start of the Endurance expedition, Hurley took full advantage of a delay in departure from South Georgia, by travelling along the coastline around Grytviken with his camera equipment in search of subjects. The rugged, craggy mountains and glaciers provided ample material for striking landscape shots, while the shoreline teamed with wildlife.
