Oval strut frame of gold with orange guilloché moiré enamel, tooled gunmetal bezel inset with photograph of Queen Alexandra when Princess of Wales. Chased scrolled border edge, ivory back and scrolled gold strut.
Made in the workshop of Fabergé’s head workmaster, Michael Perchin, this oval gold frame with bright orange guilloché enamel contains a photograph of Queen Alexandra when Princess of Wales, dating from 1898 and taken by Alice Hughes. The frame was likely to have been a gift from Russia from the Queen’s sister, as the London branch was not open at this date.
