A blue-and-white Chinese porcelain jar and cover. Of slender, ovoid form, the sides spreading gently at the foot and curving upwards to a broad mouth, with low, domed cover. Round the shoulder is an incised border of chevrons, and at the foot, a ring band. Painted in violet blue round the sides, a flying duck descends towards its mate beside a growing lotus, with a water plant and an insect. Below the lip is a leaf border, and painted on the cover, a duck under reeds and a cockscomb plant.
