A dagger or peshkabs with a single-edged blade. The steel hilt encased in gold chased with poppy flowers and inlaid with rubies and emeralds. The section below the hilt embellished with vines and flowers in gold wire. This technique of overlaying gold wire onto steel is called kuftkari. The wooden scabbard covered with a green textile and gold mounts inlaid with pearls, rubies and emeralds.
Provenance
Presented to King Edward VII, when Prince of Wales, during his tour of India in 1875-76 by Kalb Ali Khan, Nawab of Rampur.
