Royal Paintbox: Royal Artists Past and Present

For generations, Britain’s kings, queens and their families have been inspired to paint, sketch and sculpt.  Accompanying the ITV programme Royal Paintbox, an exhibition of the same name at Windsor Castle this summer charts the history of royal artists from the 17th century to the present day.  It includes works by George III and his children, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and their children, King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra and by Her Majesty The Queen.  Also on display are a group of watercolours by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, who plays a leading role in the ... The official range of commemorative china to mark the anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen’s Coronation is now on sale. Inspired by the Coronation procession on 2 June 1953, the design reflects the pomp and pageantry of a grand State ceremonial occasion.

The Queen acceded to the throne on 6 February 1952 and was crowned at Westminster Abbey the following year. On the day, some three million people lined the streets of London to watch the Coronation procession, when The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, made her way to and from Buckingham Palace in the Gold State Coach. ... Royal Academy celebrates Diamond Jubilee with gift of art for The Queen

Her Majesty The Queen has been presented with a gift of 97 works on paper by the Royal Academy of Arts to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. The portfolio includes prints, drawings, photographs and works in oil, watercolour and mixed media, contributed by 93 Academicians. The gift has been added to the Royal Collection and will go on display at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace next autumn. Some of the most high-profile Academicians are represented in the portfolio, including, Tracey Emin, David Hockney, Anish Kapoor, Cornelia Parker and Grayson Perry among others. ...
