Glittering gowns and dazzling diamonds at Buckingham Palace this summer

To celebrate The Queen's 80th birthday, the largest ever exhibition of Her Majesty's evening dresses and personal jewellery will go on display at the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace this year (26 July – 24 September 2006).  The 80 spectacular gowns, from the 1940s to the present day, have been worn by The Queen for both official engagements and private family events.  The exhibition shows the work of the leading British couturiers Norman Hartnell and Hardy Amies, and of those designers who have worked for Her Majesty in more recent years.  Each has brought their distinctive style to ... Annual Openings of Frogmore House, Garden and Mausoleum

Frogmore House, set in the magnificent private Home Park of Windsor Castle, has been a favoured royal retreat for over 300 years.  Built in the 17th century, it was purchased in 1792 for George III’s consort, Queen Charlotte.  Frogmore is no longer an occupied royal residence but is frequently used by the Royal Family for entertaining.

New tours at Windsor Castle bring 1,000 years of royal history to life

Three complimentary audio tours will be introduced at Windsor Castle this year. From 1 February there will be a special tour for those visiting with children, a tour designed for the visually-impaired, and a general tour available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Chinese (Mandarin).
